Emptiness

Question

I have just looked around your site a little, particularly zazen and physics. People often speak of emptiness in zazen. You know propulsion through the vacuum is possible; it is also called antigravity. It seems very likely UFOs use it: they move silently, and it is an inexhaustible,
nonpolluting energy. And don’t forget, the vacuum is imperfect—fortunately, because if it were perfect there would be no life!! You feel the imperfection of emptiness in zazen because you cannot empty yourself completely.

Answer from Master Kosen

Emptiness is perfect thanks to its imperfection. If it were something, it would not be emptiness, so we can define it only as the nature of things, which are themselves imperfect.
