Question
I have talked with my friends about Buddha’s teachings, and I need an answer that is more practical than all the philosophy that circulates as teaching.
Suffering exists. Even if someone decides right now never to suffer again, that is impossible; suffering is inherent in human beings. So what is the right attitude for experiencing each instance of suffering? What is the practice at that precise moment?

Answer from Master Kosen
Suffering is very relative; what we define as suffering or pleasure is very relative. So is the point when suffering becomes unbearable; that too depends on each person’s capacity. People who have practiced zazen for a long time can bear much more pain than normal. Well, there comes a point when morphine is welcome.
