Does magic exist?

Question

My question concerns my constant changes of state, specifically
states of confusion. On the one hand, I am a computer engineer (well, I am still
finishing my degree :P). I learn mathematical formulas and use reasoning
constantly and diligently. On the other, there is the fact that… perhaps I want to forget
all this, since it is a “burden.” So neither side—
intuition or reason—is comfortable with the other. Perhaps it all depends on finding
the right moments and knowing when each is most appropriate… Yet
that is not where balance lies either… So tell me, where
is it?
In another order of “chaos” is the craving for power and knowledge of the
world, a thirst for “magical powers” that would make me special compared with others. This
creates a state of confusion and anxiety. Yet it is difficult to realize
we are in this state, because it can be very intoxicating for
the mind to believe everything that gives power to the ego. Do you know this state? And
if so, does magic exist?
