Diaphragm, hip, psoas

Question

Good evening,

I have resumed zazen, and since then I have had problems around my hip: inflammation of the psoas and tendons. I also think this contracted area and the resistance lodged there block my breathing and therefore my diaphragm. I no longer know how to find ease in my body and my breathing so I can continue zazen.

Answer from Master Kosen

Sometimes zazen reveals health problems. At times, we have to be patient when we can no longer do zazen.

It is painful, but it teaches us how precious our zazen is.
