"Conditioned thought and creative thought"

Master Kosen – Published on November 20 – emotions

Question

Isn’t asserting that there are two kinds of thought—“conditioned thought and creative thought”—falling into the trap of dualism? Isn’t that thinking with the frontal brain, something Zen masters denounce? Don’t they say everything is emptiness, without categories…?

Warmly.

Answer from Master Kosen

Conditioned thought comes from the past, from another thought or another cause, and itself generates an effect connected to that chain, in the form of further thoughts, actions, or emotions that are also conditioned.
Creative thought comes from silence and pure consciousness and imprints its seal on the blank page of a future in which nothing has yet manifested. It creates a fresh, new reality that will manifest.
As for the frontal brain, it is humanity’s treasure for those who know how to use it.
