Question
Dear Kosen,
Is the Buddha always conscious of his breathing, acting and speaking from it?
Thank you for your attention. Have a good summer gyoji.

Answer from Master Kosen
,
First, we do not know that we do not know how to breathe.
That is unconscious incompetence.
Then we know that we do not know: conscious incompetence.
Next we learn and train. We know how in theory, but must practice consciously.
That is conscious competence.
Then, finally, we attain unconscious competence. We practice unconsciously, naturally, automatically; we no longer need to think about it.
