“Blood circulation”

Question

When you have had very serious health problems involving “blood circulation”—I had deep vein thrombosis in both legs a year ago—and the meditation posture cuts off circulation (because the legs are bent, even sitting is not recommended by doctors, or only for very short periods)… what do you think? What should I do???

Master Kosen’s answer

Watch your diet, don’t mix acidic and alkaline foods (eat fruit outside meals), and meditate at your own pace.
I am not sure zazen is actually contraindicated??? Try it.
