Question
My explorations are rather personal, reading texts and poems from
various sources. Although I know there is no rational answer
to a koan, I would like you, if willing, to guide me or
give me something approaching an answer, because this remains a complete mystery:
“Goso asked himself the following question:
When a buffalo escapes its enclosure and rushes toward the edge
of a ravine, its horns pass through, its head passes, its hooves pass, everything
passes… except the tail. Why can’t the tail pass through?”
Thank you in advance.
Respectfully.
François
Answer from Master Kosen
If the tail passed through, who could remember the buffalo?
