Question
Buddhist "believers" (rich or poor) in Asia often practice giving, but with the aim of attracting favors that will bring them greater well-being, comfort, and wealth.
I am skeptical of this approach, because although the Buddha certainly advised practicing giving, above all he taught us to train in renunciation.
Could there be a "return on investment" as straightforward as they believe???
Or did the Buddha recommend giving not in terms of a "benefit" for better days ahead, but simply as a method and a practice aimed at stripping away the self?
Thank you for shedding some light on this for me.

Answer from Master Kosen
To give is to act from abundance; through the law of attraction, the vibration draws its counterpart to itself.
