My question concerns Reiki. I received a treatment, then talked with the person who gave it, and that is exactly where things got sticky. She told me that initiation into the first or second degree put me in contact with my guardian angel, “ascended masters and beings of light.” That leaves me somewhat perplexed. I was told you had an “angels” phase. I was also told it didn’t matter if the woman saw angels and beings of light, newly arrived on earth to establish contact with humans. But it still seems a bit much. I thought Reiki was more a personal awareness of the cosmos’s existence… I know you are not a Reiki specialist, but if you have a comment, I would gladly hear it!

It is better to practice one thing and carry its study through to the end. Only afterward can we take an interest in other traditions for comparison, and then we will have our own experience as a basis for judgment.
