Mei Ran dojo

The Mei Ran zen dojo is a beautiful place in Amsterdam where we practice zen meditation in the tradition of the lineage of Master Taisen Deshimaru and the Kosen sangha. The dojo is located in eastern Amsterdam (Amstel metro) and is led by Alga del Mar.

Zazen session schedule

On the days and times listed below, the dojo is open for zazen practice. Zazen lasts approximately 1h30. Please arrive about ten minutes early to prepare.

Wednesday : 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Thursday : 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Saturday : 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Traditional Zen Sewing

In addition to meditation, the dojo offers traditional kesa sewing sessions (garment of bodhisattvas, nuns, and monks).

Friday : 2:00 p.m.

Introduction to zazen

The introduction to zazen practice takes place every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

During the introductory class, the various meditative practices taught in a traditional and authentic zen dojo will be explained: zazen, kinhin, sampai, gassho. You will of course be helped to practice these exercises by an experienced practitioner. You will also be taught some basics about proper behavior in a dojo and during meditation.

The class lasts approximately 45 minutes. It is recommended to wear loose, dark-colored clothing.
