Samu in France at the Yujo Nyusanji Zen temple – From Friday, September 25, 2026 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The samu

The monk Richard Kosen organizes maintenance and renovation work in the temple buildings for six consecutive days with 5h of samu per day and two zazens at 7 am and 7 pm.

The nuns and monks present share the direction of the zazens. Registration is limited to ten people per week. You can come for a few days or the entire week. Outdoor or indoor work depending on the weather. Good mood and positive energy are welcome.

Prices and registration


The daily rate is fuse (“donation”).
Free for those under 25.

To participate in a retreat at the temple (even a samu), you must pay your membership fee to the ABZD association for the current year (if not already done). For this, please consult: Membership.

Work Schedule

  • ​Dining hall roof: metal sheeting installation.
  • ​Women’s dormitory: painting the shutters.
  • ​Family building: start of exterior wall insulation (scheduled for late September, if progress allows).
