This short sutra represents the ideal of the bodhisattva constituted by his four fundamental vows, of which the first – to save all beings – encompasses the other three. Chanted every morning, this sutra reminds us of the highest mission of the mahayana buddhism practitioner in this world, as a human being. Every day he renews these vows.
It follows the Hannya Shingyo during ceremonies.

The four great vows of the Bodhisattva
However innumerable beings are,
I vow to save them all.
However inexhaustible the illusions are,
I vow to extinguish them all.
However immeasurable the dharmas are,
I vow to master them all.
However perfect the Buddha’s way is,
I vow to realize it.
