The Saint-Andéol-le-Chateau Zen group meets every week to practice authentic zazen following the tradition and spirit transmitted by Master Taisen Deshimaru, in a place converted into a dojo.
The person in charge has received the ordination of Zen monk or nun, and practices the great sesshins within the Kosen sangha.
Anyone wishing to discover and practice zazen is welcome.
Zazen session schedule
On the days and times indicated below, the dojo is open for the practice of zazen. Zazen lasts about 1h30. Please arrive about ten minutes early to prepare. Beginners are advised to arrive about 20 minutes before the indicated time wearing loose and discreet clothing.
Saturday: 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Introduction course to the practice of zazen
The introduction to the practice of zazen takes place every Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
During the introductory course, it will be explained to you what are the different meditative exercises that are taught in a traditional and authentic Zen dojo: zazen, kin-hin, sampai, gassho. You will of course be helped to practice these different exercises by experienced practitioners. You will also be given some notions on the behavior to adopt in a dojo and during meditation.
The course lasts approx. 45 minutes. It is preferable to wear loose, dark-colored clothing.
