Looking for a new guardian at the temple

Francesc, the current guardian, is coming down from the mountain after more than two years of samu at the Temple. The position is opening up for a minimum duration of one year, offering a monk or nun the opportunity to live in the heart of the Temple.

Required qualities

  • Have received bodhisattva or monk/nun ordination
  • Regularly practice sesshins
  • Fluency in French
  • Valid French driver’s license (vehicle provided)
  • Be willing to live alone or to share moments with people staying at the temple.

Main missions

  • Ensure daily zazen practices
  • Welcome and supervise samu and zazen stays
  • Guarantee respect for the framework and rules of life. Manage daily life:
  • Cleanliness and routine maintenance of the temple
  • Laundry
  • Meals (rotating samu)
  • Phone duty and payment management.

A set of specifications will be established.

Coordination

Richard Féret, the maintenance manager, ensures a presence at the Temple one week per month. He remains the contact for maintenance and coordination, in connection with the Council of Elders, which meets via Zoom once a month to monitor the activities and management of the Temple.

Conditions

Commitment: minimum 1 year, with a one-month trial period. Offer: Employment contract: €600 net/month.

Opportunities

Monks/nuns can propose stays of a week or more: samu, sewing, yoga, calligraphy, bread workshop, etc. These responsibilities allow the guardian to benefit from free time.
