Question

Merci beaucoup. Sébastien

Don't be afraid! Buddhas practice from 10000 years and have pins and needles in their legs and… if they bother you to that point, cut them!

Posture

Hello Master, In a previous mondo, you recommend alternating the crossing of the legs during the practice of zazen to balance the body. Why not also reverse the mudra? (left leg on right / left hand in right, right leg on left / right hand in left) Master Dogen seems to insist that only the left leg should sit on the right one, the left hand...

kin hin

I practice in an AZI-compatible dojo for the time being, in a sharing spirit. The last time I practiced there, they indirectly made me notice that the posture of my hands, when I was walking back to my zafu at the end of kin hin, was not appropriate: I should have kept the kin hin's mudra, simply flipping down my hands by 90°. Though, I ...

A relaxed or dynamic posture?

Dear Master, first let me express my great respect and deep friendship. Since a while ago, my practice is coca-light like, because of doubts which, in spite of my presence and my joie de vivre, are persistant and come back at the slightest shot of blues or insatisfaction. Despite of my research, many things remain conceptual: must we totally ...

The crossing of the legs.

Hello dear Master. I wanted quite simply to ask you whether it is important to change the legs when the lotus is made, I ask you this because it is normally said that one must put the right foot on the left thigh and then the left leg on the right thigh, but somebody said to me that to keep it balance it is important to just make the reverse ...

The posture causes my legs to go numb!

The posture of ZAZEN (at least the one I take) causes my legs to go numb, which I eventually don’t feel any more. In vain I try to have WILL or COURAGE or STUPIDITY, as you wish, I end up unfolding this cursed leg... Some advice? (If possible other than “continue”)Denis

Is breathing in Zen automatic and natural ?

Is breathing in Zen automatic and natural, or is there a techniqueor form to breathe. How do we determine correct breathing for ourselves? What does it feel like? Is this breathing in any sense controlled? In reality in zen, people learn a breathing technique which consists in concentrating their energy below the navel and to press on the ...
