Question

Dear Master!

I`m writing from Norway, where I got back 3 times to take a job, try myself and get to know myself. i feel the same all the time, I can`t do it, but insist on it to fullfit my dream and attain the knowlidges and find myself even if I`m alone and am among uknown people. If I feel the pain in my stomach in hara it means i have to change or I just try to escape from myself? I know we have to be able to be creative wherever we are..But how..It is a big teaching, what i want to get to know..

Thank You!

Greetings.

Laura

Answer from Master Keisen

If you allow me, first try to know what you want, deeply, what could satisfy you fully. That may take a little time if by intuition it is not obvious to you. I guess it is generally too hard to think that we should do something which is maybe not adequate for ourselves and then think that we should be able to stand any situation and be creative wherever we are, even if essentially let's face it, it does not work objectively.
The situation that we are living and ourselves are not two, but are completely linked. They cannot be separated.
In my mind the first priority is for you to feel what corresponds to you. Changing is not escaping. Then when you know, go for it with full motivation. If you reverse the process, jump on something and then you accuse yourself, if it does not work, to escape is hard and not useful for anyone.
Also sometimes, in some situations, it is better to escape. Why feeling guilty of that ?

Good luck,

Goals

We are advised to practice zen without any goal, since it is the path, the process and practice themselves that should be the center and it is through them that we attain our goal. Is it the same in life at large? Should I abandon my goals in life and concentrate on what life gives me?

Burned out

I started practicing Buddhism more than ten years ago, I did retreats, etc., but my life is just as miserable as before, or even more. I have lost my faith in chanting mantras or sitting because it had not made me any happier or wiser.
