Ungo Doyo

The thirty-ninth patriarch was Great Master Yun-chu Hung-chiao. He studied with Tung-shan. Tung-shan asked him, "What is your name?" The master replied, "Tao-ying." Tung-shan said, "Say it from beyond." The master said, "If I speak from beyond, I cannot say that I am Tao-ying." Tung-shan said, "That is the same answer I gave when I was with Yun-yen."
